Tackling Projects

The biggest reason people procrastinate about starting a project is that it seems too big and overwhelming.  We often feel the same about the goals we set.  They seem too big.

The key to starting (and completing) a project and the key to realizing your goals, is to break them down to smaller manageable pieces.

To avoid procrastination and get started on a project or goal, try the following:

Think about how you can break down the project into smaller manageable pieces.

For example:  The goal is to “Create an Organizing Audio Program”

The tasks to make this goal happen:

1.  Decide on a Topic

2.  Choose Title

3.  Determine my target audience

3.  Decide whether to have music

If yes, (1) Choose the music

                   (2) Get release permission

4.  Props

          (1) Decide

          (2) Obtain

          (3) Test

4.  Graphics

          (1) Choose picture for CD

          (2) Write copy

                   (1) Biography

                   (2) Tape titles

                   (3) Cover

5.  Budget

6.  Packaging

          (1) Obtain bids

          (2) Choose

7.  Rehearse

          (1) Record

          (2) Listen

          (3) Edit

8.  Studio

          (1) Make decision about using a studio

                   If yes, (1) Locate

                             (2) Book

                             (3) Pay

Breaking down projects into smaller manageable pieces works with any type of project, work or home projects.  Try it on a project you have been putting off and let me know how it is going.  You can email me at bwestby@nomorechchaos.biz.
