Organizing Closets

Even if your whole house needs to be organized, I like to start with the closets.  The reason is, if you storage spaces are clutter-free, you’ll have some room for storing things when you are organizing the rest of the house.

Your clothes closet is a great place to start.  There is an article on the No More Chaos website, http://www.nomorechaos.biz/archived_articles/how_to_declutter_your_clothes.htm that gives you step-by-step instructions on how to sort your clothes.

Once you have sorted and have your “keep” items to put back into your closet, consider customizing your closet to make maximum use of the space you have.  You can purchase closet systems to meet any need and any budget.

A couple of my favorite are The Container Store’s Elfa system and Rubbermaid’s Configurations system.  I like to recommend them to clients because they are middle range in price and can be configured for any size closet and all storage needs.  Both systems can be left in your house as a selling point, or can be taken along and used in your new home if you move.  Also, both these systems can change with your needs.

I have pictures of these and several other closet systems in a file that I can email to you if you are interested in seeing what is available,  and to inspire yourself to organize your closets.  There is no obligation to see my closet file.  Just send an email to bwestby@nomorechaos.biz with the subject line “Closet file” and I’ll send it to you for inspiration.
